Down, But Not Out: In a Days of Our Lives Exclusive, Jackée Harry and James Reynolds Promise Paulina’s Ready for a Fight!

You’d be forgiven if you thought that the battle for Abe’s heart on Days of Our Lives was over before it even began. He may not be ready to commit to a decision, but as far as Lexie is concerned, she loves him just as much as ever. In fact, for her, it’s like she just took a nap and woke up to discover her husband is married to someone else!

And while she seems determined to hate this new woman, Paulina seems just as determined to put Lexie on a pedestal and push Abe towards her. He can’t have both of them, and Lexie is his wife! Though to be fair, we haven’t yet worked out the legalities of a marriage when one of the spouses was genuinely, clinically and legally dead. Usually these types of things happen when someone’s just presumed dead!

But either way, it feels like this triangle is over before it’s even gotten started. But then Jackée Harry and James Reynolds chatted with us about what Paulina and Abe are going through. As Reynolds said, “It’s tough, but Paulina actually makes it easier. Her depth of depth of love and compassion for Abe is so deep that she’s willing to go against her own self-interest.”

Part of that is because yes, Paulina “does think he’s already lost,” Harry admitted. “I think he’s been led astray by his own ethics.”

But this story is not, by any means, over. Paulina loves Abe deeply and she would support him, even if it hurts. But that doesn’t mean it’s what she wants, nor is she just going to walk away. When push comes to shove, “Heck yeah,” Paulina’s going to fight, Harry exclaimed! Then, she added with a laugh, “And she’s thirsty!”

But, “she has pride as any woman does. She’s not gonna play hard to get. It’s not gonna be easy, but she’s fighting for him. She’s letting him know, I’m in line!”

That’s when Reynolds chimed in that Abe “knows that. This depth of commitment that Paulina has, it’s just good fortune. It’s just a wonderful thing that somewhere crossing your path is someone that has so much devotion and love in her heart. That’s, that’s just pure luck.”

That’s all well and good, but it doesn’t make the situation any easier. In fact, it might even make it harder. In Tuesday’s episode, Abe didn’t hesitate to admit to EJ that Lexie was his “great love,” but that doesn’t diminish his feelings for Paulina or the life they’ve built. So is he going to be able to keep everyone happy?

That got some strong reactions! “Well… That’s a hard question!” Harry exclaimed. “Ooh!”

“That’s a different question” entirely Reynolds agreed. “We didn’t talk about happiness! We talked about luck, but not happiness! It’s so hard because these are two women that he loves deeply. He’s walking around feeling horrible. I mean, inside, every time he sees Paulina, his heart just drops. He goes to Lexie and his heart just drops.”
