“We’re Back!”: Inside the Trailer and Concept

The audio trailer kicks off with the familiar, high-energy chemistry fans have come to adore. At the beginning of the teaser, Jessica Capshaw opens with a highly anticipated reveal:

“I’ve been waiting a very long time to say this. Are you ready for it? We’re back!”

Camilla Luddington then teases that We Ride at Dawn(ish) is explicitly designed for:

“…unfiltered conversations about friendship, resilience and showing up, even when the ride gets a little messy.”

Capshaw elaborates on the emotional core of the show’s concept, stating:

“It’s about weathering the storms, staying in the saddle and knowing that you’ll have someone beside you when the sun comes up.”

Summarizing the organic dynamic that drives the entire project, Luddington notes that, essentially, their podcast is simply about:

“…two best friends who met on set and never stopped talking.”

Official Statements on Partnering with Dear Media

In a joint press release, Capshaw and Luddington expressed their immense enthusiasm for the new venture and outlined the broad range of raw, relatable topics they intend to tackle each week:

“We’re so excited to be partnering with Dear Media to bring this podcast to life. Whether we’re talking about the glamorous and not-so-glamorous parts of being actors, navigating motherhood, or simply trying to figure it all out as we go, we can’t wait for listeners to join us. At its heart, this show is about friendship, resilience, showing up for the people you love, and knowing that even when the ride gets messy, you don’t have to do it alone.”

Michael Bosstick, the founder and CEO of Dear Media, echoed their excitement, highlighting the universal appeal of the duo’s tight-knit relationship:

“the kind of best friends everyone hopes to find: fun, honest and truly inseparable. We Ride at Dawn(ish) invites listeners into that bond and reminds us how powerful it is to have someone by your side through every season of life.”

A Look Back at Their Rocky On-Set Origins

While the duo previously found major success hosting their interactive advice podcast Call It What It Is through iHeartRadio, their current “inseparable” status wasn’t always a given.

The pair originally crossed paths when Luddington joined the cast of ABC’s hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Jo Wilson, working alongside Capshaw’s iconic character, Dr. Arizona Robbins. Despite their undeniable modern chemistry, Luddington candidly revealed that their initial introduction was far from smooth.

Speaking on a past episode of Sophia Bush’s Work in Progress podcast, Luddington admitted that Capshaw actually did not like her when they first met, describing the atmosphere between them as “icy” throughout her entire first season on the show. The turning point came entirely by accident when the two found themselves as the only cast members who actually showed up to a planned group dinner.

“We were forced to reconcile,” Luddington recollected of the awkward dinner setup. “But then we just loved each other.”
