Thanks to Johnny’s Covert Intervention, Sarah Figures Out What’s Wrong With Holly — and Gwen Declares War on Kristen

It’s still the 4th of July! The fireworks are, well, firing but Holly’s asleep in the hospital. Sarah’s nodding off by her side when Xander creeps in and brushes hair out of his ex’s face. She wakes up all panicked: Holly’s getting worse and they can’t diagnose the problem.

Xander tells her he set Kristen on the Coriseal trail. Sarah’s not thrilled, but she’ll take any help to figure Holly’s condition out. That’s the first Xander learns Holly’s tied to the Coriseal! She gets a text with the results of Holly’s latest test and fills Xander in right away on what they say! (Isn’t that, er, against doctor/patient confidentiality?) Her organs are shutting down.

Brady Realizes EJ’s a Threat

Kristen mocks Brady under the glow of the fireworks, since Sarah’s not with him. Holly’s dying, he snaps, so Kristen’s being super insensitive. (Shock. Ing.) Plus, he just visited Rachel, who’s doing so well, she may be home by next week!

“No,” Kristen freaks out. “That can’t happen.” EJ could get to her! Brady’s not liking what he’s hearing. “Are you telling me that EJ can hurt my daughter,” he demands. Kristen tries calming her panic and insists she can handle this, but Brady’s not buying it.

What Did Johnny Do?

EJ tries summoning Johnny, but A) Johnny wants to be done with this and B) he can’t come over while Chanel’s sleeping and Trey needs watching. So EJ goes to him! “Did you give Sarah the message?” Johnny did. He left a medical book open to the arsenic page. Cute. As they talk, we see Sarah rush into her office, spot the book and… “Oh my God. That’s it.” Problem solved!

EJ’s happy enough, but Johnny’s furious that this happened to begin with. “What’s done is done,” EJ insists. And by the way, he was busy on Smith Island, digging up those pills, so he couldn’t do it himself. Now, Johnny just has to keep this from Theo. For the good of their family. Theo’s not good at lying and this can’t get out to anyone or it’s the end of DiMera.

Will They Save Holly In Time?

As Xander’s sitting with Holly, Kayla shows up just before Sarah rushes back in with the arsenic revelation. They can beat this! Xander heads out to the nurses station to fill Brady in on the arsenic poisoning, and it doesn’t take long to figure out EJ’s still behind this. Because, well, duh. But they then discount that because neither believes EJ would care about Holly. (Oh, come on, guys!)

Sarah and Kayla, meanwhile, marvel over how rare arsenic is, but Sarah’s not waiting for the tests to confirm. They have to act now. At the very least, Kayla rushes off to have the Horton water tested for arsenic and Coriseal. (Weren’t they already testing for Coriseal?)

Gwen barges in on Leo’s concussion recovery to help herself to a drink, still reeling over the Xander/Kristen news. But she does not blame Xander! She blames herself for not listening to Xander insisting he wanted no strings. (OK, but he did hide this instead of being honest.) Also, Kristen’s toast. Gwen’s going to kill her. (Is that literal, or…)
