If there’s one thing we learned from Tuesday’s Days of Our Lives, it’s that neither Stephanie nor Chanel can stand Joy! Then again, we knew that from the start. But on top of that, it seems like neither has much faith in Alex. It’s not that they think he’s going to stray, but that he’s just being so darn naive with Joy! She’s out to get him, and he’s clueless!
Whether or not they’re right about Joy, Robert Scott Wilson insists to Soaps.com that they aren’t about Alex! “He’s trying to do the right thing by [Joy],” he promises, “but he’s definitely wary of her.”
As Wilson points out, Alex hasn’t ever really spent all that much time with Joy. Just as they were starting to date, everything fell apart and Joy left town. (Carrying his child, of course!) In a way, Alex is getting to know her as he gets to know his daughter.

“He doesn’t know much about her other than that they had a good time and they worked together a little bit here and there,” Wilson shrugs. “He’s definitely unsure of what her motives are and what she’s trying to get out of this.”
While Joy’s said all the right things — especially when she first showed up on the scene and explained she just wanted to give Alex and Kelsey a chance to get to know each other — her actions have been getting increasingly dubious! First there was the hospital call, where she was in a panic… over denied insurance. That’s a definite problem, yes, but one which she handled more than a bit suspiciously.
Joy was able to talk that away, claiming Alex hung up before she could finish, but then, on Tuesday, she pulled another emotionally charged “I have an emergency” call to Alex! This time, about a flat tire. Stephanie’s getting a little fed up, but, to his credit, Alex tried putting boundaries down after helping Kelsey’s mom out. The only emergencies she should call him about are ones with Kelsey. Everything else, figure it out.
So yes, Wilson insists, Alex is “definitely suspicious.” But it’s “purely suspicious. Nothing is solid yet, but he knows that if she’s really pushing it this hard, then chances are [she wants something], which is scary. This is uncharted territory for Alex.”

“Yet” makes it sound like the shoe could yet drop on Joy’s true motives — if she has any! Admittedly, even we’re still unsure if she’s up to anything or we just think she is! She had a point when she told Alex that she said how alone she feels right now. She really doesn’t have anyone else in Salem to turn to for help. But still… Something feels fishy.
What we do know is that based on the summer preview, it looks like there may be a real, honest to God Kelsey health emergency heading our way. And even if that’s not something orchestrated by Joy, it could be just what she needs to wear down any lingering suspicions from Alex, and pull him closer into her orbit.
